Conditions of Use

You must be eighteen years old to use this site. If you are under eighteen, you may only use the site in conjunction with, and under the supervision of, a parent or guardian.
K J Howells and Son have the right to refuse at our discretion to supply any goods ordered by you.

Virus Infection

It is the responsibility of the user to check all materials for viruses before downloading them from this site.


All goods offered for sale through our web site are priced in UK Pounds Sterling (£) and are inclusive of VAT.

Description of Goods

Although we intend to give a full description of all goods, slight style or dimension modifications may occur.  It is the customer’s responsibility to request further information if style or dimensions are critical.

As wood is a natural product, K J Howells and Son can not guarantee or be held responsible for colour or grain characteristics.  Goods are not deemed to be faulty based on colour or grain characteristics.

Return of Timber Treatment Products

Timber treatment products are not covered by our standard returns policy, and can not be returned unless found to be faulty.

Return of Machined Timber

Machined timber is not covered by our standard returns policy can not be returned unless found to be faulty.

Typographical Errors

In the event that a product is listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical error or error in pricing information from our suppliers, we shall have the right to refuse or cancel any orders based on the incorrect price whether or not the order has been confirmed. In such a case it is our policy to contact you, and allow you to choose whether you wish to continue with the order at the corrected price.

Payment Method

You undertake that all details you provide to K J Howells and Son for the purpose of ordering or purchasing goods or services are correct, that the credit or debit card you are using is your own and that there are sufficient funds to cover the cost of the goods or services ordered. You must provide us with your exact name and address that your credit card issuer has on file for you. Your order will only be processed once authorisation of your credit card has been properly received. All goods remain the property of K J Howells and Son until paid for in full.

Availability of Goods

All products are subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time. We will however contact you if a product you have ordered is out of stock, and if you do not wish to proceed with the order we will arrange for the order to be cancelled. We offer an extended range of products, some of which are obtained directly from our suppliers. These products are subject to suppliers stock availability and delivery dates made by the suppliers own delivery services. We will contact you to explain the stock and delivery situation with these products.


Whilst we quote delivery times in good faith, and reasonable effort is made to keep any delivery date specified we shall not be liable for any losses, costs, damages or expenses incurred by the customer arising directly or indirectly out of any failure to meet any estimated delivery date.  Delivery of the Goods shall be made to the Customers address and the Customer shall make all arrangements necessary to take delivery of the Goods whenever they are tendered for delivery.  If instructions are provided for the goods to be left without a customer signature, then we shall not be liable for any damage or loss.

Boat Show and Annual Shutdown Effect on Ordering and Delivery

During the periods of the Southampton and London Boat Shows, and our annual shutdown, orders may not be acknowledged or processed for up to 10 days.  It is our policy to contact you after the boat show or shutdown and offer you the right to cancel your order due to the delay.  We will endeavour to post such closures on our web site.

Claims for Damages or Shortages

If there be any visible damage to the delivered goods, it will be your responsibility to sign the courier’s documentation stating that the goods have not been received in good condition.  If the items appear to be damaged we request that you refuse the delivery and allow the courier to return them.  You must inform us immediately, but not later than within 7 working days.  It is imperative that you do not dispose of any of the packaging, as this will be required to make a claim against the carrier. We will make a claim against the carrier and arrange for the damaged goods to be collected and replacements to be sent to you.  In such a case, the goods will only be collected from the original point of delivery.

It is your responsibility to sign for the correct number of packages as shown on the delivery or carriers consignment note. Any shortages must be noted on the delivery notes and it is your responsibility to notify us within 2 days of delivery.

If you request for the goods to be left without providing a signature, you are agreeing to assume all responsibility for the goods.  K J Howells and Son can not be held responsible for any loss or damage unless a valid signature for the delivery can be provided.


If for any reason you are issued with a refund it will be issued to the same payment method as on the original order. A refund will usually reach your credit card account within 5 working days, but please allow up to 10 working days for it to be credited. If goods are returned based on a reported fault, but are found not to be faulty or they have been damaged by misuse, they will be returned to you and no refund will be issued. K J Howells and Son reserve the right to charge a shipping fee for items returned to the customer.

Cancellation of Orders and Returns

You may cancel your order at any time prior to dispatch by calling us during normal office hours.  Orders cancelled after dispatch of the goods will be subject to a minimum handling fee of 10% of the invoice price plus courier costs to cover re-stocking and administration costs. Shipping costs will not be refunded for any orders cancelled after dispatch.  Orders cancelled after 7 days will be subject to a handling fee of up to 20% of the invoice price plus courier costs.  We reserve the right to refuse goods returned if they are not in their original condition with the original unopened packaging.  All shipping costs for returned items shall be the responsibility of the customer and it is advised that adequate insurance is arranged to cover damage in transit.


The extent of our liability to you shall in no circumstances exceed the price of the goods and we shall under no circumstances be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages.
